I didn't find out about this until about two hours before she was due to arrive, but somehow managed to pull things together and get over to TEB for some photos of her. Spent most of Thurs. afternoon and Friday taking pictures of this beautiful aircraft. Enjoy ...

She is absolutely gorgeous and spotless. You'd never believe spending 50+ years buried under 200+ feet of ice would preserve you so good :D That and the 7 million restoration cost.

The TV interview: L to R: Steve Hinton pilot of the P-38 Glacier Girl, Ed McManus, last surviving pilot from the ill-fated Lost Squadron flight, and Ed Shipley who will fly Miss Velma, a P-51 Mustang, on the flight.

For those of you who are Mustang nuts here's one for you ...

These were all taken on Thursday. I'll try and post a few more tomorrow that were taken on Friday when Glacier Girl was out of the hangar.

Enjoy.

on a side not, i didn't know there's a GBX at TEB. damn, i'm missing out sitting in LGA.

Fantastic work as usual Art. Also might I add that the GLEX in the back is one sexy looking Canadian machine.

There are lots of Globals at TEB, both based and transient. The database I have shows 9 based there, which, out of 200-some built so far is quite a bit. Out of 11 visits to Teterboro, I've never not seen a Global.

Interesting you picked up on the Global Express tucked in the corner of the hangar, and I do mean tucked in. No way to get any kind of decent picture. Actually saw 3 or 4 of the GBX's over the two days I was there. If they are at Jet Aviation they would be impossible to spot just cruising by the airport. You'd have to see them inbound and outbound to know they were there.

Now, for a couple of pics from Friday's events and departure.

This was taken at a press conference. As you can see the room was jammed.

Being pushed out of the hangar and into the sunlight finally. :D

Not the prettiest airplane I've seen, but absolutely beautiful when you think of the history.

A final photo op with Steve Hinton and the last surviving pilot (Brad McManus) from the Lost Squadron flight.

The fly-by not the best at TEB. Being right next to the hangar you couldn't see them coming until they were there. It was a quick one pass flyover, you got it or you didn't.

Taxiing out for departure.

It's always a wonderful experience when you get to hang with airplanes that have so much history around them.

Enjoy.

Nice shots Art,
I am really disappointed that it was made to be only a media event. I'd love to get a shot of that P-38.

That's true Steve. The Mustang was owned by Steve Hinton. From what I understand it's not coming back from England. It's staying there.
