Replacement / Upgrade for Canon 30D DSLR?

Greetings,

Does anyone in the know … know … when Canon is coming out with a replacement / upgrade to their current 30D DSLR?

Also … what projected new / improved features might be incorporated? Thanks.

Best rumors say an announcement in August/September; that puts it 18 months after the announcement of the 30D, which was in turn 18 months after the 20D (which was 18 months after the 10D, and so on).

Most likely, it'll have a MP bump and the anti-dust stuff from the XTi. These are basically the givens; some speculate it'll include a DIGIC III processor, some believe it might get some weather-sealing (though others disagree). I'd definitely count on more MP and the anti-dust stuff, and probably DIGIC III.

Some unconfirmed specs for the 40D were leaked in January...10.1 MP, DIGIC II processor, 5 FPS, 30 JPEG burst, self cleaning sensor thingie. There doesn't seem to be any solid info from Canon yet, but best guesses indicate an announcement in the 3rd quarter of this year.

I think I'd rather go for the latest tech than save some bucks for something that'll be essentially obsolete from the get-go ... not to say to 30D isn't a great rig. Since the 40D is almost here ... I think that's the way for me to go ... unless it's priced outrageously high. I salivate over the 5D but that's a tad "above and beyond" for me.

Any idea what the going rate will be for the 40D? Thanks.
