Wow. That guy, Bill Armstrong, has an amazing collection of old photos, many from JFK and LGA...like this Great Lakes Airlines DC-4 (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0127720/L/) taking off in 1958.

Here are the rest: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.s ... entry=true (http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?photographersearch=Bill%20Armstrong&distinct_entry=true)

there's a few guys who've been uploading their older stuff. On JP.net Bob Polaneczky has been uploading some killer stuff from JFK.

Not old enough or Grey enough to remember this scene but the EAL Hangar in the photo is the site of the current US LGA Main Terminal and US Gates 11-12, and the aircraft the photo was taken from is sitting approx where US Shuttle Gates 19-20 are located present day. Thought some of you especially the topic starter would appreciate that. BTW the pictured EAL Hangar later become the commuter terminal for LGA (at least thru the mid-80's) and the aircraft where parked on the ramp outside but the ticket counters and waiting room where in a sectioned off area of the hangar with the hangar roof being the very high ceiling. I visited it once or twice after starting at LGA in late 85 and it was quite an experience.
