Looks like you were over near College Point there Fred. There's a cool spot over there that Phil and I have gone for early morning 13 departures. Its to bad they put up that fence otherwise you could get some real killer shots.

Where exactly were you shooting from in College Point? I grew up in the town and know the western shoreline looking over to LGA pretty well.

I was over there just last Saturday when there was broken cloud cover. I recall a chainlink fence at the foot of either 22nd or 23rd Avenues.

If you haven't done so ... check out the foot of 25th Road down the hill from College Point Boulecard where there's a bus stop for the Q-65 city bus. On the left side ... next to a largish building ... was once a clear view of LGA except it's becoming gradually overgrown with vegetation. But look closer on the right side and you'll see a paved path beneath some trees leading to a wooden deck that doesn't seem to be part of a private dwelling. What a view from there!

Further to my last just posted ...

What camera ... lens ... and exposure info did you use? Tripod too? A terrific sharp shot toward "sunset" yes?

Wow, Fred ventures out for photos at a big airport 8)

Looking at that second shot, I assume it was from your adventure on Saturday? Nice shots!

Wow Fred you should have let me know you were out this way and if you were able to move a little furthur east on you spot I would have filled your view finder with USAirways, Air Canada and Continental Airplanes.

Shamrock,

I, too, am from College Point, and I had foudn many nice spots along their shorelines. You cna see quite a few Anet pics of mine taken form there.

Although, looking at Fred's shots here, I don't think they were taken from College Point.

I think Fred was on a boat, or paid a visit to Rikers Island. :D

Don't I WISH!!! Do you know what those shots would look like...and I do
not have to get up and take the kids to school with only 4 hours of sleep!

ahhhh to dream....

I shot a wedding that went down to the statue and back on a big yaht...
Do you know how hard it was passing LGA but being to busy to turn the
camera in the direction???

I figured it was a boat. In order to get that down-runway view, you'dhave to be further north than CP, but south a bit of Rikers....and the height you had would mean a bigger boat.

The place where you'd have to store your camera might negate those positives.

Hi Phil ...

Care to swap College Point location specifics?

Perhaps we can join forces sometime soon since I'm in Flushing. Q25 and/or Q65 gets me over there quickly.

I'm working this week but I'm on vacation next week. Let me know. Thanks.

Anet is an acronym for http://www.airliners.net which is an aviation photography site.
