Newark Airport Ranks Last For On-Time Arrivals

NEWARK, N.J. -- Travelers heading for Newark Liberty International Airport need to pack some patience.

For the second year in a row, Newark ranked last for on-time arrivals among the nation's 31 major airports in 2006.

It's third from the bottom for on-time departures.

Nearly 63 percent of arriving flights landed on time at Newark last year. Some 80 percent took off as scheduled.

Officials blame weather, congested airspace and too many flights during peak travel time.

Officials blame weather, congested airspace and too many flights during peak travel time.

How about blaming the FAA on an out of date traffic control system that dates back to the early 80s and in some cases the 70s!

But Tommy, without weather, congested airspace, and too many flights during peak times, that antiquated traffic control system would be able to handle things just fine

Well its like clockwork, almost every week day around 11am a ground delay program is put into place. Its not the aiport itself, because even when landing either 22L/4R, that airport can handle more then 34-38 arrivals an hour.
