Just a little surprised that the Concorde went there. I had no clue.

I'm not a Concorde expert by any means, but it is my understanding that flights like those to Hong Kong were special flights - not regularly scheduled.

I remember hearing that they would occaisionally run an 'around the world' flight where they would chase the sun west bound. I imagine that Hong Kong might be a stop on that route.

I love all those old Kai Tak shots. What a great setting!

WOW. It's wild jsut watching it turn, especially on approach. The Concorde's shape makes it look like it has no business being able to do anything as basic as turning.

Here is a pretty goodwebsite that describes all sorts of Concorde services. Apparently it operated between Singapore and Bahrain for some time and also flew from Europe to Dallas via Dulles. I think the coolest was when it operated Bahrain-Singapore, it was painted in BA colors on one side and Singapore's colors on the other.

And, correct me if I am wrong, but that Concorde that carried that special livery was none other than G-BOAD, who is here with us in NY :)

You JFK dudes must have seen plenty of them in their day (er... the is, if you're old enough :) ) I only saw one here at YOW, when the British royal family came to visit. I stood right behind it, OK maybe 100 yards out, as it took off. Too bad that was before my camera days.

Concorde actually made it to something like 300+ airports.... It got around in its time.
