As we all know Air India will be starting nonstop flights to JFK on their brand new 777-200LR and she sports a new livery!

We should find out the date of when she starts service to JFK and all go out and photograph her!

Glad they kept a variation of the traditional window treatment. India is a major force in the globalized economy and it's nice to see efforts are being made to bring the flag carrier up to this standard. If they can offer a quality service nonstop between the US and India with new equipment, Emirates, Etihad and such may have to re-think their marketing pitch in the US.

Ah its ok, another airline that took a classic look and dulled it down. I'm looking forward to seeing KingFisher at JFK.

Brand new stylee :) Hope they don't dump the Maharaja in favor of a management consultant...

I agree. While I'm grateful they kept those windows, it's one of the few classic schemes that I like.

years ago they tried a new livery a red tail with gold and then after a short time they went back to the classis livery they still have, I think I remember hearing something about the gold color and it causing a issue back in India

I like it, definitely a fresher, more western look. Air India isn't a monopoly anymore, they have to tweak their image a bit to stay competitive.

very nice... its not a radical change to the old cs but it looks fresher... I think I won't see them in NY but I hope they will paint the Jumbos also very fast to get them in FRA in this summer ;-)

Man, I wish they kept the old colors. Seeing them on the 747-400 was spectacular. I am not a fan.

I'm not sure I understand the tail logo - looks kind of abstract. Maybe even a bit like the old design Aeroflot had on its engines. But I agree...the frame around the windows is an Air India trademark (perhaps unofficial), so it's nice to see that they've incorporated them into the new design.

Gordon, where did you hear this? Will we still get the 744? Will it be nonstop, or still go through LHR?

I first picked it up on the NYC Aviation calendar and I've noticed it in some posts on Airliners.

Not quiet sure if it is direct or through LHR but I believe it will be a direct flight. No idea of the exact start date.
