Delta is seeking permission from its bankruptcy court to order 30 Bombardier CR900 aircraft, plus a further 30 options.
The aircraft would be delivered from September this year, through till 2010.
The CRJ900s are part of an RFP Delta issued in August for 143 regional jets comprising up to 43 70-seaters, 50 50-seaters to replace portions of existing flying in Atlanta, New York and Cincinnati, and up to 50 76-seaters "featuring first class seating. . .to meet the changing demands of the network," it said at the time.
