I saw this posted inteh JFK report but felt it required it's own thread.

Virgin America A320 N623VA arrived at T4 at 4:00pm.

Uh, wow? Did anyone know this was coming? Anyone know how long it will be there?

This is very disappointing. Somehow Redone (for me) didn't pick up that flight this time. I haven't had a problem picked up those regs before.

I wonder if this is going to be a repeat of the SFO ceremony, or if this is one of the aircraft that is going to be leased.

AFAIK the NYC event is not planned until Jan 07. Could be ferrying thru on a lease to TAM?

The question remains.......is it shootable?

Why thank you,

from where it is.. no its not.. the only way to get access to it is on the ramp.. its at the hard stands where singapore 747 usually sits .. between gates 7a and 6 at the A concourse...

when do they actually start flying commercial(y)?

No official date as of yet, it still needs permission from the DOT in order to commence flights, but hopefully it will be soon.

yes she was just parked there. Id thought they'd use a hardstand or something.

Im sorry for the poor quality but its all I could get.

Were there really pink lights inside or is that just a photo quirk?

Looks like someone was having a airside rave party

Nice grab, certainly some funky lights going on inside there.

Haven't had the time to venture out (too lazy) and get the one at JFK but here's a few of my Virgin America shots:

The pink lights remind me of the Emirates "mood lighting" which changes with the time zone throughout the flight to help reduce jet lag. Maybe VA ordered it for transcon....I thought it was a gimmick but I recently flew EK between JFK and Hamburg and between the lighting and the 600 channel on-demand entertainment system the flights seemed to go really quickly and I felt less jet lag than I usually do.

For those who haven't already heard, they're doing FAA proving runs so we should see it a few times in/out in the coming days/weeks.

I'm a little confused by the Virgin America thing. If it's doing proving runs, shouldn't they be MOVING, instead of just sitting at the hardstand for two weeks?

"Airbus Six Two Four Victor Alpha" is on short final for 22L.
My first time hearing something other than "Boeing"

Mario got a good shot of her the other day which is up on jetphotos. Looks like she is parked next to the Emirates A340-500 during the day.

Is this their final color scheme? I surely hope not, its bland and boring.

I like the wingtips.

I saw my first VA plane, N623VA for the first time at JFK, was parked there yesterday.

I'm running in the shower now so perhaps you can post a link to my jp pic.

ciao.

Nice shot Mario, hopefully we'll see these VA aircraft at JFK on a regular basis.

Oh and I believe the "947" on the Evergreen tail is the U.S. Forest Service Fleet Number.

Nice shot,
It took off just as I was getting there I can't win for losing.
When it came in before flight tracker didnt show me. The second time it arrived at night the third time I didn't know until it was too late.

Not sure when it left, but N623VA is no longer parked at the end of Concourse A, and seems to have left the airport at some point over the last couple of days.
