Urgh... Continental 777 at SWF

[Iberia A340-600]

Just thought I'd point out that right now there is a Continental 777-200 at SWF. Flight is CO85 from TLV, I'm guessing she was a diversion from EWR.

Not sure how long she has been there for, Flightaware didn't pick up her arrival but I thought I heard a 777 type plane fly over my school today but of course since it was cloudy I couldn't see.

If it wasn't dark and if my dad was home I'd be out there in a second.

SWF is only 56 miles from EWR, so for her to divert there something must have been really serious, otherwise I would think it would be so much easier to go to EWR.

Any more info?

Will, planes from JFK, LGA, and EWR divert all the time to SWF due to wx.

CO has planes divert there pretty regularly... usually 757s for fuel though coming across the pond

Interesting how the future is seldom what people imagine it to be, I have some articles from the late '60s that suggest that a) the 'widebody' was making single aisle longhaul aircraft obsolete and b) in a few years all longhaul travel would be supersonic. I think a late '60s/early '70s business traveler would be shocked to find that some 40 years later, transatlantic flights were being operated with an aircraft that wasn't any more comfortable or faster than the 707. I'm sure someone will point out the innovations in avionics and fuel efficiency and such but those mean little to the passenger experience. Personally, I would rather fly a nice widebody with IFE to Europe, but I guess the economics of the 757 are really good and most of the public don't care if its a 757 or 747 or IL-62 as long as the fare is cheap...

Its just CO's seats are some of the worst in the business, and I've flow on one too many.

If the 757 has humane seating then by all means its OK.
