In the late 1950s, seven men were chosen to be a part of the United
States' manned space program. The names Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, John
Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra, Gordon Cooper, and Deke Slayton
became a part of Project Mercury which would take us to space for the
first time and lead us on to the moon by the end of the 1960s.

The Cradle of Aviation Museum is thrilled to welcome Mercury 7
Astronauts, Scott Carpenter and Wally Schirra to our Legends of Air &
Space Lecture Series. Lionized by Thomas Wolfe as "the men with the
right stuff", Carpenter and Schirra made history with their exploits on
Aurora 7 and Sigma 7 in 1962. They will discuss their fond memories of
the early days of the space program and their views of our future in space.

This will be a very special evening where you'll meet men who are a
part of history - true legends of air & space.
As a courtesy to our speakers no autographs will be allowed.
Seating is limited and reservations are required.
For information and to reserve your seat, please call 516-572-4066,
