I was browsing through some pics at A.net of the A380 and good god this thing really is ugly! The A10 Warthog is a pretty plane then this bird. The size is certainly impressive but something this ugly should be allowed to fly

I'm not really a fan o modern day aircraft but....I find the A380 pleasing to look at. A nice full well proportioned aircraft. I fell in love with this angle here...

Atleast it doesn't look like this:

making a list of all those people calling it ugly now.....cuz they'll be the first out at JFK to see her arrive ;)

I find the A10 to be a great looking and dignified looking aircraft. As for the A 380, I can't wait to catch her on that 13L approach.

Only because those pics will garner the most views on anet, not because of the beauty of the plane or lack of.

I wonder how reactions will chance when we see it in person. I think that day will be bigger than the last concorde day.

she lacks grace in her style, it looks stubby

I agree it looks stubby. But like most planes, after they stretch it once or twice, it will look more "grown up". With so few orders there may not be a reason or demand to stretch it, but I think it would look better if it were a little longer.

And whats funnier is that after the stretch versions come out, then we'll all be running around for the ultra rare shots of the A380SP that was once in service ;)

Having seen the A380 land at Sydney a year ago, I can say one thing for sure. She's VERY QUIET. The A380 is easily quieter than a 737.

In the flesh, the A380 isn't a bad looking aircraft at all.

The first revenue flight is set to arrive in my home town while I'm away :(
In November SQ will fly Singapore to Sydney. I think Singapore will receive one aircraft and the other's will be delayed.

I'm hoping that Qantas will be the first airline into New York. Qantas will use their first aircraft on the Sydney-Los Angeles route, but this could easily be used on the SYD-LAX-JLK route.

shes a hideous bird no matter what colors you slap on her IMHO but if it will get the job done safely, with low cost, and without problem whatever.

It is still a frogjet

QF flags A380 compensation
QANTAS expects to seek more
compensation from Airbus when it
is advised of the full extent of any
further delays in the A380 delivery.
The manufacturer last week
confirmed more wiring issues were
expected to further put back the
arrival of the super-jumbo, and QF’s
Peter Gregg said “it is likely we
would seek further compensation”.
QF has already recognised AUD$104m
in liquidated damages from Airbus.

MEANWHILE, French media
reports say that the delivery of the
first Singapore Airlines A380 could
also be affected by the problems.
However a SIA spokesperson told
TD this morning the carrier’s
information is still that it will take
delivery by the end of this year.
The carrier, which has heavily
promoted itself as ‘First to Fly the
A380 in 2006’ said it’s in contact
with Airbus and would advise as
soon as more information becomes
available.

Just wait until you see the beast in person, ugly, but, big...

Oh yeah, does this look like the A380?

So I take it you will leave your camera home that day?

No, I'll want to document history. Your comment goes under the assumption that the reason that we take photos is almost solely for Anet and JP acceptances and hits on their sites.

I'd be taking pics of the A380 that day because I want to have my own shot of that magical day. WillI upload? Probably, if it comes out ok. But even if the conditions suck for Anet uploads, I'm obviously still going to take a picture of it.

That's very true, bunch of hypocrites... I bet that if it would be a Boeing aircraft most of the prejudice would be dropped, as for the looks, it's your tatste which is nothing I can argue about.

I saw the A380 at the Paris Airshow & yes, I took pictures! But, that does not mean that it is a pretty bird...

If the aircraft was a Boeing produced A380, it would still be ugly..... :D

Phil nailed it, it will be witnessing history.

I heard and read about Concorde's first flight into NY and how there was a "staircase" of helocopters along either end of the glidepath, watching Concorde first come into NY.

I would imagine a similar entrance.

I'll def be out to see it, the size of this thing just has to be seen. I'm shocked when I see it side by side with the A340.

I took this photo last year, it had a Security Guard near the A380, so, that you have an idea as to how big the A380 is.....
