As part of this weekend's WW2 show at the Airpower Museum, the B-24 and B-25 are already at FRG. The -25 is at the museum, the -24 is down the other side of JetCenter. Should make for some good shots in the morning (or tonight for Fred)

Which B-25 is it? I shot Tondelayo and Briefing Time last weekend at Lancaster (in crappy weather).

Being Sat is going to be a wash for normal spotting I think I might take a ride down their in the morning and see if I can get some shots on the ramp.

Which B-25 is it? I shot Tondelayo and Briefing Time last weekend at Lancaster (in crappy weather).

Couldn't tell from where it was parked (tail toward the fence) but on both horizontal stabs there was a large blue circle with a white design (maybe an animal head?)

The B-24 is "Witchcraft".

I saw Tondelayo take to the air last night sometime around 6. Although not the actual aircraft I was glad to see the CF paint their B-25 to commemorate such a historic aircraft. I've read about the history of the famous Air Apaches in the Pacific that Tondelayo was part of. It was one of three Mitchell's that sunk a Japanese freighter and lost one of it's engines in the process. While returning home the flight of 3 aircraft were jumped by more than 50 Japanese planes for over an hour. Tondelayo was the only B-25 to make it home after scoring 5 kills and driving 4 other Japanese fighter into the water. The fight home got so vicious that the pilots of the B-25 were firing pistols out the windows at the Japanese!

That was right around 9 a.m. - I stopped by before heading into the office, and the Lear was just about to taxi as I pulled up. I've seen it around FRG a bunch lately, for some reason the paint scheme reminds me of old British jets, BAC 1-11 types.

The Lear belongs to Presidential Aviation...they have a CL601 in almost the same scheme.

I still have a bunch to go through, but here are the first set from FRG on Sunday:

P-51 "Glamorous Gal"

The C-47, earlier in the day, before her engine problems. Look, Fred, prop blur!

A shot from the old control tower, showing all 3 bombers:

They polished up the spinners, making for a nice photo to show off the nose art work (plus the photographer, and TommyA in the red shirt behind me)

Fred's sons - can you tell which one will grow up to be a pilot?

where did the F-111 come from?

It belongs to the museum, it's a retired USAF bird. I think they took delivery about a year ago.

I thought I was once told it was originally from Plattsburgh AFB, but could be wrong.

Nice shots Moose! I was over there today on my way home, got to see the F-4u and Avenger fly.

Tom, did you get your flight?

Headed over to FRG this afternoon to see if I could catch the bombers in flight. Rwy 32 was active, so I parked on New Highway, down near the approach end.

Got to see the P-51 make a few low passes before leaving - he took off on Rwy 1, but made a pass down 32:

All 3 bombers made two flights each. First out was the B-24, followed by the B-17:

http://moose135.smugmug.com/photos/93041732-L.jpg

The B-25 departed Rwy 1 both times, so no take off shots, but here are a couple of her landing:

In between watching for the bombers, got to shoot some "everyday" traffic:

This twin Beech was making a fighter approach to the runway - he was inside of the Parkway while in this bank, but managed to get it lined up on short final.
