Ok I thinks its time the we do another Long Island NYCA dinner. The last one was about two months ago if not more and I'm sure we have allot to catch up on and this time we won't have the dam World Cup recap by Nick. I'm proposing Monday the 11th of September at either Smoking Als or Peninsula. Of course this is open to all, just a word of caution to anyone new who wants to join us, we're a rather loud and obnoxious group, Chris Hack is still recovering. LOL Ok who's in first round is on Nick.

I'd love to, but I'll be in Minneapolis that day (don't ask me why, is there ever a reason to go to Minneapolis?)

Sure, spending $1600 RT on NWA to go to Minnesota is a GREAT reason! ;)

P.S. We should be good to go...just need to work out the logistics of it.

Ok heard from Fred and John (aka Moose) and Monday the 11th isn't good. So I'm going to throw out some more dates. If you'd like to come please respond with a date that's good for you and we'll go with the majority rule.

Wed 9/13
Sun 9/24 (we can do some spotting before hand)
Wed 9/27
Sun 10/1 (spotting to perhaps this day)

I'm in for all those dates, hehe

I think a weekend would be best for people on the way west side of the island (you know, Queens).

As of now, those all sound fine, I think.

But one suggestion, actually Klos and I were talking about this. Why not an aviation related place like the 56th Fighter Group?

just a thought

The food there is not the greatest, good happy hour though.

Sun and weds work for me.

The 56th really doesn't have great food. Lets stick to a good thing and do either Smoking Al's or Penninsula. I'm thinking Smoking Als, there's something for everyone on the menu. So its looking like the 24th is good for most. I know Fred is off, as soon as we here from more we'll call it. Nick you better be making some Franklins out there, this is going to be a big first round, LOLOLOL

9/24 sounds fine but I'll just check with my social coordinator ;)

My wallet is going to get stuck in my pocket like yours!

Keep in mind Smokin Als will have trouble seating a big party, we had 7 last time and we were like sardines. Their dining room is not the biggest, if we get a solid # we can call ahead though.

You know I think we need to change the date. I didn't even realize that it was 9/11. Myself and Tommy discussed this before. On this day I don't feel we should be out eating and drinking and having a grand ol time. I think we should be a little more somber and maybe watch the ceremonies and such on television. A lot of people gave their lives that day, and I think the least we can do for them is to forego one night of fun.

Mr. Volaro if you read my post above I said we were leaning towards the 24th since Moose and Fred could not attend on the 11th. Are you drinking already in anticipation of our dinner???

NIKV69
2006-08-31, 04:09 PM
Well I better drink now since you won't buy any! The 24th works good, that is my Friday so I will be going hard. Any body else that is not driving wants to get a buzz on let me know.

on question, 9-24 is the Sunday and thats fine. Rosh Hashananannannannna is the the day before. would that impose any diet issues? Port Ribs all around?

Highheels is not home for me to ask!

If we eat Smokin Als I may get those ribs Tommy had last time, they were huge!

T-Bird76
2006-08-31, 06:04 PM
They were big Nick but didn't have that much meat on them, I'd go with the regular ribs they have.

Count us as both in for 9-24.

Nik, what did you order for me last time? I cant even remember. Brisket and something else??? The food was all great!

NIKV69
2006-09-12, 01:49 PM
Was probably the pulled pork which I think is much better than the brisket, I am in. Tommy pick me up cause Sunday is my Fri so I am getting smashed. Haven't gotten a good buzz in a long time.

Fred better leave his camera home

Sep 24 sounds good depending on time. Wife and kid will be at a crew regatta--I was told I can't go because no one can watch the dog. Thanks Shelby .... my dear old 16 year old semi incontinent puppy :)

Anyway if it is the 24th I just may be there!

Where is the regatta? I want to start shooting some crew. I miss those days and have to get back into the water.

Just got back from Smoking Als, though I didn't get the monster beef bones (what Tommy got last time) It was awesome! What time we doing this again? Prime time is going to be tough to seat a large group but they will do their best for us.

Ok folks were going to be moving the restarunt down the street a bit to this place called Peninsula. If you could please drop me a PM and let me know if you are coming I'd greatly appreciate it. This place is truly fantastic as some members can tell you. Here's the link, we'll meet there at 4:30 at the Peninsula. If anyone has any questions please call my cell at 516-456-1499..

All,

Sorry to say I will not likely make it tomorrow.

The original plan had wife and kid going to her crew regatta in Philly today, returning tomorrow, which would have freed me up. Unfortunately we awoke to a steady rain, and the wife didn't want to drive, so I had to arrange for a dog sitter (thank you inlaws) and did the drive.

I doubt we'll be back in time for me to join in, but never say never.

Have a blast, and have a drink or three for me.

My best to you all....
