So I just had the best day at SWF! Let me start at the beginning. As there were severe thunderstoms in the city I was checking flightaware for diversions into SWF and sure enough there was a SAS A330 and 2 Continental 757-200s at the airport so I packed up my camrea and my dad and I left for SWF. While driving a belt in the cars engine broke so we had to return back to the house and get the other car. While my dad was getting something to drink I checked flightaware again and now there was the same planes as before but also a jet blue A320, a ATA 738 and 733, and a Evergreen 747-200. So now that we were in a working car we headed out to the airport. When we got there I hit all the normal spots for shots of the diversions but while we were sitting on the hill an airport operations guy drove up to us. My dad and I thought that this meant we had to leave but we went over and talked to the guy and told him we were aviation enthusists and he asked "so you guys really like planes?" and we said yes and then he said "do you guys want to take some really great photos? Hop in!"

So that's how the best day at SWF started out! We drove all around the airport including up and down the runway. Unfortunatley most of the diversions had left already but the SAS A330 was still there.

Here are some shots from today, enjoy!

Great shots! Was that a Fokker 70 I saw in that third pic? Did you get any closer shots of it?

I'm so glad that you finally made it out there for some up close and personal shots!

See you tomorrow! :)

Thanks!

Nope, didn't see any US Express birds around. The guy who was took us around told me that most of the flights had been cancelled for the day. I was hoping to catch the CRJ-200 but the terminal remained empty for the four hours I was out at the airport.

Here's a closer shot of the Foker-70, I did get closer but the photos aren't great as we sorta sped past it. The reg is N322K

As much as I love ATA, I'd have been giving all of my attention to the F70. Rare sight these days.

This is true. Although I had most of my attention on the large SAS A330-300 sitting on the ramp 8)

Great shots, glad to see that some airports in NY are photo friendly!

Now as to that F70, that's a sweet aircraft, but I'd take more of the GE 737 BBJ.

Nice shots there. I went to SWF to get the Fokker too. There was this S-64F there also parked next to the Fokker. Unfortunatly the S-64F helicopter was parked at the worst angle possible.
Its been a while since I saw one of these. If anyone can help with the reg on it........

If i stand correct that Fokker is owned by Ford it is a Corp. shuttle. That color scheme is Ford Motors Co. I used to work on their G5 and Falcon 2000 at SRQ all the time when I worked at the FBO.

Unfortunately, more than half of the active S-64s in the US are operated by Erickson! I did a quick look-through, but since it probably didn't arrive IFR, it's tough to get a bead on one.

He mentioned that he was approached by an airport worker in his story.

Nice to see this, I was in BDL (Bradley, Conn.) on the same day, with some very nice diversions as well. LTU A332, Singapore A345, RJ342, 2x CO752WL, CO762

As much as I love ATA, I'd have been giving all of my attention to the F70. Rare sight these days.
You definately should come over to AMS ;).

Thanks Matt! The shot that looks like I'm in a cockpit was taken in the car that we were in speeding down the runway.
