US Airways plans to add flights from Baltimore to New York City late this summer.
The Tempe, Ariz.-based airline said Monday it will add 106 flights by September 6 to popular business and leisure destinations. It plans to include four daily flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and New York's LaGuardia Airport.

New flights to Baltimore will leave LaGuardia at 1:25 p.m. and 6 p.m. Departures from Baltimore will leave at 3:20 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. The additional flights exclude Saturday service.

US Airways (NYSE: LLC - News) hosts 35 daily departures to six destinations from BWI. The airline makes up a small portion of fast-growing BWI's market share. Dominant discount provider Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV - News) accounts for half of the Linthicum airport's business.

US Airways is tired of backing down from SWA. Its time for US Airways to make their airline be known.

Hope they are succesful at doing this. I'd like to see an expansion of US at STL.

Do you have the link to the story?

Most of these flights are new but are replacing other withdrawn seasonal service . For example the above mentioned LGA-BWI flights are Dash 8's that are currently operating LGA-ACK and LGA-MVY. Demand in these two markets takes a HUGE dip after Labor Day. US just announced for Sept 1 r/t MCO-EYW with the E-170. Currently there are 3 a day FLL-EYW, in Sept it will be 2 FLL-EYW and 1 MCO-EYW all flown with the same E-170. Locally the most interesting change are the three new JFK-CLT flights operated with Mesa CRJ-900's !

Cheers
