American Airlines Inc. could be asked to leave Dallas Love Field as part of a possible compromise to phase out the Wright amendment, according to a Dallas official close to the negotiations.

Other terms include a multi-year phase out of the flight restrictions, immediate through ticketing, and limiting the airport's gates, according to three other Dallas officials.

The officials, who declined to be identified because the terms are being closely held, said Friday that a local compromise on lifting flight restrictions at Love Field will involve limiting the airport's gates to 20, and phasing out the Wright law over nine years.

Very Surprised DFW agrees to the compromise. Nothing is official yet though but it is a new compromise being offered.

Nine years is a very long time and probably not within WN's time-frame, of course DFW will agree. Love Field is a sore point in WN's route network, O and D traffic is far below WN's system wide load factor and is affecting their yields. Love Field will never grow to what it use to be if WA is repealed, the area just can't support it.

I don't understand the argument against KEEPING the WRight Amendment. It really just seems that it's the lobbying power of the large American Airlines that has kept this magical thing called CAPITALISM from invading the city of Dallas.
