"BLIND" TUG-A-JET CHALLENGE
Sunday, June 4th
from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
at Air East Airways, Republic Airport, Farmingdale
ARE YOU UP TO OUR CHALLENGE?

On Sunday, June 4th, 2006, members of the Long Island community will once again compete in a test of strength and teamwork to see who can pull a 15,000 pound Learjet 100 feet in the fastest time ... BLINDFOLDED! Additionally, the Sensory Obstacle Course offers a timed "relay" style competition where team members experience a variety of physical limitations while facing the challenges presented.

The 2006 "Blind" Tug-A-Jet Challenge, presented by North Fork Bank , is open to any group that wants to support a great cause and participate in a fun, team-building experience.

This year we've added the FSS Discovery Arcade, where you can take part in a series of interactive experiences, experiments and activities designed to raise your awareness for what life is like for those with visual and/or auditory challenges. Each of the booths in the Discovery Arcade invite you to:

EXPERIENCE - can you identify everyday objects . . . without being able to see what they are?

PLAY - simple games that take on a new dimension when you can't hear what's going on

EXPERIMENT - with equipment, aids and other devices that assist the blind/deaf community in life

PARTICIPATE - have your vision and hearing tested

PLUS - there will be activities for toddlers and food and refreshments available for all!

The event is generously hosted by Air East Airways at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY. The celebrity "starter" is former NY Jets all-star, Freeman McNeil, who coaches the teams, lends encouragement and makes sure no one is peeking!

The event supports the Foundation for Sight and Sound, an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those affected with visual and auditory impairments of varying degrees and origins. The Foundation provides funding to organizations engaged in research or providing support and services directly to affected individuals.

Support this worthwhile and fun-filled event by entering your own team OR donate your sponsorship to a worthwhile community organization. In the past, the Long Island Bombers, a blind baseball team, and a team of Special Olympics kids were sponsored by generous companies.

Spectator Ticket - $10.00 - General admission to view the competition and enjoy the
many exciting activities at the event. (Tickets will be mailed for all orders placed on or
before May 15th, 2006. After that date, tickets will be held at the "will call" counter at the
entry gate.)

Langley AFB used to do a tanker tug (groups of 15 people see who can tug a KC-135 the furthest for charity)... those were fun to watch!
