Jeez I remember three years ago while I was out west I found a gas station in Bullhead City, AZ that was $1.39 a gallon. This is getting out of hand.

Yeah, and 3 years ago, I lived in North Carolina and could fill my Integra up for THIRTEEN DOLLARS...yes, in US currency!!! Now, it's like $35.

I filled up my Blazer this morning...$42 - $3.15 a gallon here in West Palm Beach - as I was filling up - my bank manager called me and asked how high to put the loan application in for :) Just kidding...but..I can remember 5 years ago in St Louis paying 73c/gallon! It has gotten a little out of hand!

When I lived in Philly, we'd always make the trip across the bridge (even with the toll it was worth the savings) and get gas for under a dollar in NJ. I love NJ for gas...you aren't ALLOWED to pump it, and it's significantly cheaper. Now that's service.

The price is just out of hand but our consumption practices haven't changed so as long as the demand keeps up the prices will keep up. Just wait to we lob a missile into Iran, OH BOY BEND OVER BOYS AND GIRLS!!!

I am so glad I have a place out here. I have been keeping my weekly total of driving to 160 miles. Gas is just too much. I hope something gives pretty soon.

That's funny you made that statement Tom, we were just talking about that at work. A price increase is fine but when prices go up as quickly as they do it catches people and companies off guard. The airlines themselves said they'll have to go back to the drawing board if prices remain over 70 a barrel. Remember most of the airline's recovery plans, UAL standing out the most were banking on $60 a barrel oil prices. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Be prepared for high gas prices, the only long term solution is going to be alternate energy sources... If we want cheaper gas, due to chaos abroad, we may need to start drilling on US soil, that includes Anwar (Alaska), Utah, West Coast (California), & East Coast Florida.


Analysts said a floor remains underneath oil prices, which are 33 percent higher than a year ago, for a variety of reasons:

• With daily global demand roughly 85 million barrels per day, the world's oil producers have less than 2 million barrels per day of spare production capacity, and most of that is for Saudi blends of oil that are less ideal for manufacturing transportation fuels.

• Oil traders are nervous about geopolitical tensions ranging from violence in Nigeria to the West's nuclear standoff with Iran to the move toward greater nationalization of natural resources in energy-rich Venezuela.

• The global economy is expanding, and that means the thirst for oil is only going to grow.

• Speculative investors are piling into energy markets as a way to profit from soaring prices and geopolitical turmoil that could potentially be bad for equities prices.
