A few interesting sidenotes on this aircraft

If it had the capacity for many many many more rounds....the gun would
eventually stop the aircraft as the recoil will win over the engines!!!!
Made here on Long Island, the Fairchild A-10 was never liked by anyone
in high places and was being phased out but saw new life after doing it job
as Close Air Support for our guys on the ground that were taking heavy
fire. This was many a soldiers savior or another soldier's groan of
death. It is now going to get upgraded and see action for many more
years.

The engines are made to fall off the pylons in case of an uncontained
fire....

the tail is made to break away if the engine lets go and the other side will
compensate.

The pilots seat was made to take many hits! It is made for 1 reason,
pilot survivability.

Aircraft can be flown in manual revision with NO hydraulics

the engine is protected by the wing from FOD

The aircraft has a "Titanium Bathtub" protecting the pilot

This is the true hero of modern warplanes...Not the F-15 dropping bombs,
the A-10 taking out the enemy mere meters from friendlies.

I Love the A-10.....with many good reasons!

The list could go on for pages...like

Thanks, Garri, but your questions are very easy. To challenge us more, try giving us only part of a photo that might not give us such an easy time. An entire photo of common military aircraft doesn't offer too much of a challenge for many of us.

Airliners might be better, too. :)

Enjoying your conributions very much though. :)
