2x this week I saw an EL AL 747-400 landing at JFK, It is all white but for the EL AL titles on the sides couldn't get the reg,

is this a fill in leased in????

Maybe a lease especially with Hanukkah...

Sounds like 4X-ELS. That's the only ElAl 744 I can find that has the paint scheme you're referring to.

This photo of 4X-ELS with this "reduced" scheme at EWR was taken March 2005, so I don't think it's a holiday lease.

Why didn't they paint this aircraft as they did all the other a/c they have?

yes thats it, maybe they keep it simple to be able to cover up it identy quickly when they have to and have been know to do
