Well I decided to take a day off to go spotting at JFK on the 27th with Nick V and Eric who meet up with us a bit later. Talk about a perfect day, first the light was fantastic, second they were only using 31L for arrivals and then they decided to use only 31R for arrivals so we got everything that came in except a Swiss A330, but we got the A340 and the Austrian 767, which is ugly anyway lol, otherwise anything that came in we got.

Although EOS and Maxjet took a few days off for the holidays, interesting airlines to say the least, taking off  The hit of the day was Aerolineas Argentinas 747-200! I'm not sure if Nick was as excited as I was, but god a classic 747 doesn't get much better. Nick and I were lucky three weeks ago too when we caught the PIA 742. These are the kind of birds I truly cherish to photograph, who knows how much longer they will be around. Anyway here's some pics from the 27th.

Enjoy!

The light on the 27th was GREAT !! I departed JFK around 1115 along with wifey on B6 59 to MCO, they where landing and departing 31L only so we had about a 30 min wait in line for takeoff, we departed not long after the Pink Song landed, same great light all the way down to MCO, fun flight and yes I did take a few photos. We returned last night on Song from TPA, landed 13R and as we made our sharpe right bank to line up with the runway we had a great view of lots and lots of Christmas lights in Howard Beach.

Cheers

I like how on that first BA 767 you can clearly see the dirty jetway markings left on door 2L...

Great shots, as usual, Tommy. What was the old lens you had? :)

You had some nice, clean light. Always a pleasure to shoot in.

The jetBlue E190 just blew me away...you really captured the red glow and the STROBES. Definitely a lot harder than the beacon. Good work.

Ok, ok...I know I'm tooting my own horn here, but some of you will realize how proud I am of myself, considering my knowledge as of a couple weeks ago was pretty much zilch. I just named every single one of the planes in Tommy's pics (without squinting to see that some of them had what they were, on the side)....and there wasn't ONE Dash-8, Brian!
