Not to ever say that a hurricane is a nuissance, but Katrina only being a Cat1, the major impacts seen will be beach erosion, and flooding, moreso than wind, which, only locally near the center of low pressure, will be heavy.

Nevertheless, the NYC-South Florida market is, I believe, the most heavily traveled in the US, and Katrina has undoubtedly affected ops on those routes in the past 2 days, probably lasting into tomorrow.

Anyone know the severity of the effect Katrina is having on aviation ops?

Tonite at LGA there where at least 3 Song 757, 3 jetBlue A-320, and one NK 319 either remote parked, or in B6's case, 1 remote parked and 2 on UA gates.

First scheduled flight into PBI was due to arrive at 8:40am this morning. Schedules are due to be back to normal at PBI today fairly quickly. We were lucky. Katrina turned south from us and headed toward Ft Lauderdale and Miami. I feel for the people south from us - Homestead (just south of Miami) has had 18" of rain so far! And, it's still raining!
