for the next couple of weekends I will be changing gears from Aviation Photography to Tennis.

For all of those that are interested, this coming weekend is Practice Weekend. Admission to the U.S. Open Grounds is free both on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to get some shots of the top players without the big crowds this is the time to go.

That sound like fun. Not that I would recognize any of the top players, but it sounds like an interesting way to spend the day. I may have to get out there - sure would be a change of pace from shooting aircraft & race cars.

Hey Eric, thanks for the heads up on this. I spent about 4 hours there on Sunday, took about 170 shots, mostly just playing with the new 300D. For the most part, I didn't know who anyone was, although I did recognize this guy:

And a couple I don't know:

The funny thing was, walking around with the 300D and a big lens, taking pictures like I knew what I was doing, a handful of people stopped me to ask who certain players were. All in all, a fun way to spend a Sunday.

Nice shots,

I was up there to shoot Agassi. What they failed to tell everyone is that Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand were open to the public on Sunday. The was one entrance open on the side, so when I got into Armstrong there was only about 20 people in there.

Here are some of my shots.

I expected more from Andy Roddick. I thought he would win the whole thing.

From what I've seen so far, that Spanish dude, Nadal, is very impressive. Aggasi also looks strong, especially for his age. Bud Federer was shakey in his match.

My pick to win this year is Agassi and then he'll retire.

I was thinking that exact same thing.
