Yea, as of 5PM, 7 people on board, 3 confirmed pulled out of the water, and the NYPD somewhat confirming all pulled out. They have live video feed on TV, where you can see some of the people on stretchers.

It happens on what appears to be 40th street and he FDR drive. There is no sign at all of the helicopter.

Apparently it had 6 on board and all 6 were pulled from the water. It may have taken off from 34th street.

I caught this as well. In contrast to the copter that crashed earlier this week on Tuesday, this one did not any sort of floatation device.

Does anyone know if floatation devices are mandated on all helicopters? They should be IMO.

8 People all board, all 8 pulled out, and no confirmed DOA's, which is a good thing. This chopper appeared to be a corporate charter, as opposed to the sightseeing chopper, and in fact is the same chopper the Donald uses (Sikorsky 76 I believe).

It looks like the tail section was pulled out of the water just a few minutes ago, a little downstream (around 36th street). The crash happened on 40th street.

The East River has some really quick currents, and it appears the chopper broke upon impact, so hopefully all pieces can be salvaged.

Something about witnesses hearing a "bang" (thats never good), and took it about a minute to sink.

just some bad luck for helos in the area recently, huh? thank god everyone's alive...

Well. seems like the last three crashes are well distrbuted between manufacturers: Eurocopter (the news chopper that landed on a roof in Brooklyn about a year ago), Bell and now Sikorsky.

Although the East River can be treacherous, its worked out alright in these last two instances. Perhaps better than if they had crashed elsewhere.

looks like it had floats that deployed after it started to sink.

From the pictures in the newspaper, it appears this latest crash might be N317MX. Seen here at Wall Street.

Although, there appears to be a N317MY as well. So, I suppose it might be that one.

No, Tom, it was the first one you mentioned, since that one belongs to MNBA.

Wild that you get all these shots of Helicopters, and you have Anet shots of them.

I'm glad that NYC has had three significant helicopter crashes lately and not one death among any of them. :)
