Anyone want to meet up at the Jones Beach Airshow on Sunday? My wife and I are gonna head out there. I could probably drive one or two people from my area (i.e., Futt, Phil). It'd be sweet to have a NYCA presence at the show...

I will be just south of the water tower on sunday

I will try to be there around 7AM.... I will have two coolers...one for the drinks and one for my camera. I will Email my Cell phone number to you now. -Fred

Is there a schedule of the day's events available anywhere on the WWW? Or how about directions?

Derf

There is a private website that includes all the info/performers/directions and much more.

http://hometown.aol.com/cyclebuff782/index.html

I will be posting info and pictures during the week as I get it. Check the link on the first post -Fred

My Memorial Day is booked already. One of these days I'll be able to make one of the shows.

You guys better take a lot of pictures!

Maybe we cna make a gallery. You guys can email me photos and I can make something up for everyone to see.

GUYS, WHATS UP?!

Sorry I am late in checking in!

BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE PEEPS in hte house! Futterman, Mike, Phil, Derf, Ron, Art, Senga, Josh! Hey, I know I am missing a bunch of you, but a huge belated WASSAP!!!

I've still maintained limited access to the internet at home since we moved in Febuary. But hey, Things are coming along, tomorrow we get new bamboo floors put in and next, we are putting in a new bathroom.

The cool news is that, as Derf said, the planes are coming in. Where we live, I can see most european arrivals into JFK and a large amount of traffic entering and exiting Republic.

I won't make this weekend, but I hope you guys have a happy and safe weekend and take lots of video and photos for Phil and I!

But I wont be too far away from aviation this weekend. I'll be up new the abandoned Livingston Manor Airport, at the southern aspect of the Catskills. While vacationing with family, I'll be doing a bit of research about this airport.

Gentlemen, glad to be back!

Enjoy your weekend!

Gee, thanks for narrowing it down on that 7-mile stretch of beach, Eric.

Eric

As the show gets close, I will check the tide to make sure that I will not have to move during the show due to the possibility of the water moving up the beach. If the tide is going out, I too will be right at the shore. If the tide is coming in I would not be caught anywhere near there.

Josh,

To get to Jones Beach take the Meadowbrook parkway south to its end. Look to park in Parking field 4 or 5. Last year I stood with all the media that was covering the show, which was pretty much dead center, The water tower would be right behind you.

Eric -

What time you planning on getting there? If you keep your cell phone with you, I'll call you when I get there.

Just out of curiosity, is the light favorable for pictures from this vantage point you're referring to?

OMG the show Rocked!!!!! Between Fred and I we took over 2000 pics, yes I know we're sick. I'm also red as a lobster which for some reason has become a trend everytime Fred and I go to airshows, anyway we had primo spots on the beach, we also got there at 7. Meet some cool people to and one jackass who had a lens any of us would die for but be had no clue how to use it. Fred and I both agreed he didn't deserve a lens like that, we did contemplate jumping him for the lens but our senses had the better of us, or was it the constant fly bye's??? Anyway once I go through some of my favorite shots I'll post some. God it was a great show!!!!!!

Fred can't thank you enough for the camera tips, my shots came out just amazing!!! Thanks again!!!

Nice shots guys. I didn't make the show (had other plans) but was able to get to see the T-Birds at JFK today. They left for COS, #3 was absent and #8 left to do advance work at COS. Six of them blasted off 31L just seconds apart around 11am.

Looking forward to your more of your show shots...

Hey Mario!

Good to see you. Hope to see you soon. Wish I could have met you at Arts but this a new house seems to take a lot of time. I didn't make it to the airshow. Truth be known I don't care for them. I don't like the crowd and I would rather be at an airport watching commercial traffic come and go. May make it out to ISP tomorrow!

Hey Mario,

I missed you by about 2 or 3 hours I was at FRG for a few hours today. Not much going on. The two 727s ferrying horses were nice but the pics were backlit to death so they are basically worthless. Got some great pics of a Red Tailed Hawk but I don't think anet will accept it.

I was shooting arrivals and departures in front of Home Depot and Ruby Tuesdays. This Hawk swooped right in and perched a top a light pole and hung around for a while. Also got pics of a family of Canadian Geese on the other side near Comp USA. Will post them soon.

Yeah, it really was a good show. I hadn't been to an airshow in a while, and I had a great time at this one. The one thing that struck me was how they managed to keep the performances running pretty much back to back. There weren't too many dull moments.

Sorry it took so long Mario. Here is this guy I saw at FRG on the top of a light pole in the parking lot of Home Depot. I left it big so you can make out the detail. Its not the best quality but you can get a good look at one of these Raptors.
