WestJet has unveiled a custom-painted Boeing 737-800, dubbed the “Magic Plane”, featuring Mickey Mouse as Sorcerer Mickey. The color scheme celebrates a long-running marketing partnership between WestJet, WestJet Vacations and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (Canada). Fittingly, the newly-painted jet will perform it’s inaugural flight today between Calgary (YYC) and Orlando (MCO). After that the aircraft will be operated throughout WestJet’s route network.

The Magic Plane, painted in a striking dark blue color scheme, features Sorcerer Mickey prominently on the tail, with stars swirling along the length of the fuselage culminating in fireworks over Walt Disney World’s Cinderella Castle at the front of the aircraft. The interior of the plane also shares in the magic with stars decorating each headrest. Passengers will also be served cookies in the shape of Disney characters on all flights operated by the Magic Plane.

“We are very proud of our work with Disney and everything we’ve done together over the years to enrich the lives of our guests,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretssky in a press statement released by the airline. “With the Magic Plane, we are soaring to new heights, offering guests of all ages the chance to share the skies with one of the world’s most beloved and iconic figures. We also look forward to having fun with our guests on the ground as they see the Magic Plane flying over their communities and at airports across our expanding network.”

WestJet is encouraging enthusiasts to share photos of the aircraft on their Facebook page or via Twitter using the #MagicPlane hashtag.
