Passing through LaGuardia’s terminal B on the week of August 19th? If so, terminal B’s Food & Shops Marketplace and The Cradle of Aviation Museum will have a special exhibit waiting for you, celebrating National Aviation Week.

Starting on the 19th, a “Story of Flight” exhibit will be on display, featuring model airplanes including a Grumman X-29, a Lunar Module model, as well as visual banners depicting the historical roots of LaGuardia Airport. The museum will also have an ‘Education Team’ on hand Friday the 23rd from 11am-3pm, along with a costumed “Amelia Earhart.” If you find Amelia Earhart, please send us a picture!

Before headed to your overcrowded gate for your probably delayed flight, make sure to stop by at the departures level of terminal B, near gates C. LaGuardia may not be everybody’s favorite airport these days, but quite a bit of history was made there.

In addition, the museum will be holding a Twitter contest for the opportunity to win so aviation swag. Two winners will be selected, with prize consisting of a retro Pan Am duffel bag, and a free one-year membership for four to the museum. To enter, follow @COAM and @shoplaguardia, and tweet #celebrateaviation sometime during National Aviation Week.
