Cathay Pacific is no stranger to the New York City area, with four daily flights out of JFK direct to Hong Kong and a robust cargo operation using Boeing 747-8Fs. For those of you that need to get to Hong Kong, but just don’t feel like schlepping all the way to JFK, we have good news for you! Cathay Pacific has announced a fifth daily flight to Hong Kong, but departing from Newark.
Starting March 4th, 2014, flight 899 will depart EWR at 1:15am, arriving at Hong Kong International Airport at 6am the following day utilizing a Boeing 777-300ER. The return trip to Newark is flight 890, departing Hong Kong at 6:20pm, arriving at EWR 9pm the same day. On March 10th, the schedule will shift slightly.
The new Newark service will be in direct competition with an existing daily non-stop United flight to Hong Kong on a 777-200.
