The Saturday crash of a Red Wings Airlines Tupolev Tu-204 was captured by the dashboard-mounted camera of a car that happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Thankfully it seems the driver escaped with only a scare. Of the eight people on the plane, four were killed and four were injured.

Keep an eye on the right side of the screen at the 8 second mark for a brief glimpse of the plane careening off the runway. Shortly after it smashes into the highway embankment, showering the passing cars with snow and debris.

As a frequent visitor of sites like Liveleak.com and knowing that the plane came to a rest on a busy highway, the discovery of such a video is not all that shocking. A great number of Russian drivers use dashcams to combat the country’s rampant insurance fraudsters.

Yeah, I think that qualifies as a hard landing.

Umm. Set of seats skidding across the highway. Is AA doing the seat installation for them?
