US Airways Flight Suffers Engine Failure at Reagan National

A regional jet flown for US Airways Express suffered an engine failure at Reagan National Airport in Washington Friday afternoon.

The left engine of US Airways Flight 3652 to Islip, an Air Wisconsin-operated Bombardier CRJ-200 (N423AW), popped during the takeoff run, according to passengers. There were no injuries.

One passenger, Sarah Dunn, said via Twitter that they were calmly evacuated onto the runway after the plane came to a stop and were met by airport emergency responders.

Initial reports of a possible fire were false.
