Despite funding and fiscal cutbacks within the aviation community, the original airshow model has taken flight over the past two years and will be doing so again this weekend just outside of New York City limits. For the third year in a row, Greenwood Lake Airport in New Jersey will host their home grown show both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend. Forty five minutes north of Manhattan, a slew of aircraft and performers will take to the sky in bringing back the traditional and interactive airshow to spectators.

“We started and progressively developed the show from scratch,” states Stephen Pavlisko, media and marketing director. “There’s something to be said about an original small scale show that gets spectators up close and involved with performers. We’ve worked hard to recreate this traditional airshow environment, and will be putting it on display again this weekend.”

This year’s show welcomes returning performances by wing walking act Jane and Kirk Wicker, the Northeast Raiders as well as Kevin Russo flying aerobatics in his WWII era SNJ. In addition to returning performers, two new and special acts this year will include Gary Ward in his MX2, as well as the Twin Tiger Aerobatic Team flying formation aerobatics in their Yak 55’s.

In addition to the air, there will be plenty of action on the ground as well. Static display aircraft will be abundant and will include a variety of vintage aircraft, as well as several warbirds from The American Airpower Museum. Special veteran guests will be on hand to speak with spectators and will include members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, as well as other servicemen from a variety of areas and service branches.
