Hawaiian Airlines to Add Second Australian City: Brisbane

The three weekly flights connecting Australia’s third-largest city to Honolulu will be operated aboard Hawaiian’s Boeing 767-300ER jets containing 262 seats, split between 18 in Business Class and 244 in Economy Class. Combined with the daily Sydney flights, Hawaiian will fly to Australia a total of 10 times a week.
Connecting service to cities across Australia will be offered out of Brisbane through Hawaiian partner Virgin Australia. Hawaiian will connect Australians to Hawaii’s other islands using its own aircraft.
“Australians love Hawai’i as a holiday destination, and visitor numbers have grown steadily since Hawaiian inaugurated service on the Sydney-Honolulu route in 2004,” said Hawaiian Airlines CEO Mark Dunkerley in a statement. “That service reawakened Australian awareness and interest in Hawai’i, which had been under-served for over a decade.”
Air Australia briefly flew between Brisbane and Honolulu beginning in late 2011 until the carrier folded in February 2012.
