Despite a rainy start to the work week, weather predictions for the coming weekend look perfect as family and friends gear up for what has become the traditional Long Island Memorial Day Weekend event: the Jones Beach Air Show!

While online chatter of expectations begins early, one consistent of the show has been that of its stellar lineup. Headlining this year’s event for the fifth time will be the US Navy Blue Angels. “We’ve looked to keep a core foundation of top performers while at the same time incorporate several new additions with each year,” reports George Gorman, Deputy Regional Director for New York State Office of Parks. “We are extremely proud of the annual event and what it has become for the community.”

In upholding its reputation, this year’s show will also feature the much anticipated US Air Force F-22 Raptor demonstration, as well as the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds. Civilian performers will again showcase the best with performances by Sean D. Tucker, John Klatt, Ed Hamill and Long Island’s own GEICO Skytypers.

The show takes place at Jones Beach State Park on Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th from 10 am to 3 pm. In addition to the beach, the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport will be providing spectators with an up close and personal view of both performer and display aircraft. If you’re still not satisfied, you can take to the skies yourself in a WWII era C-47 or B-17 bomber as flights are also being offered at the museum. Be sure to book now at www.americanairpowermuseum.com as seats are limited.
