A Cessna 150 crashed near Lahore, Pakistan

A pilot instructor and a trainee were killed on Thursday afternoon when a small plane crashed in the driveway of a house in eastern Pakistan, local media reported on Friday. There were no casualties on the ground.

Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) told the Express Tribune that the aircraft took off at around 1:20 p.m. local time from Walton Airport near Model Town, a suburb of Lahore in Punjab province. It went down about 20 minutes later when contact was lost.

The small two-seater Cessna 150 aircraft (AP-BCS) crashed in the driveway of a residential house in H Block within Model Town, the newspaper reported. Witnesses said the plane spiraled down before crashing down but did not catch fire, indicating the aircraft may have run out of fuel.

The victims were identified as 26-year-old instructor pilot Anita Qureshi and 20-year-old pilot trainee Waqar Asif, both from Karachi. The aircraft, which was on a one-hour scheduled flight, was reportedly operated by Hybrid Aviations.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
