Korean Air on Monday took delivery of both their first 747-8 Freighter and 777 Freighter in an elaborate dual-delivery ceremony at the Future of Flight Museum north of Seattle. Korean becomes the first airline in the world to operate both the 748F and 777F freighters simultaneously.

“We are very proud to become the first airline in the world to have the combined strengths of these two freighters in its fleet,” said Yang Ho Cho, chairman of Korean Air. “Our cargo fleet is being improved by these fuel-saving planes. They can help reduce carbon emissions by 17 percent and this supports our goal to be a responsible citizen of the world.”

The Seoul-based airline intends to utilize the 747-8F on transpacific routes into Osaka, Tokyo, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The 777F is intended to penetrate the European market, aiming toward Vienna, Frankfurt and London.
