Final Call: American Airlines Begins Layoffs, FAA Approves iPads for Pilots

• AMR CEO Tom Horton in an email today told employees that American Airlines will ground planes, resize its network, “And, regrettably, we will most certainly end the process with fewer people than we have today.” [Bloomberg]

• Sure enough, it looks like over 220 American Eagle pilots and flight attendants will soon be laid off. [AirNation]

• Ethiopian Airlines has officially joined Star Alliance. [Star Alliance]
