PHOTOS: Aviation Nation 2011 Airshow at Nellis Air Force Base

NYCAviation was on hand at the 2011 Aviation Nation at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas for one of the final airshows of the year and the homecoming of the USAF Thunderbirds. Some of the acts included fly-bys by B-1 Lancer and B-2 Spirit jets, a B-25 bomber flyby, a demo by The Patriots Jet Team, the Present Day Air-to-Air Demonstration which included F-15’s and F-16’s, and the A-10 West Coast Demonstration team. A C-17 also performed a full demo for the first time since the July 2010 Elmendorf Air Force Base C-17 crash.

We would also like to specially thank Joe “Rifle” Shetterly, pilot of the A-10 for taking us out onto the hot ramp for some great shots of him and his team as this was his last show as the West Coast Demo Team.
