Bombardier CSeries Scores 15-Plane Order from Turkey’s AtlasJet

Bombardier has received a letter of intent from AtlasJet to purchase 10 CS300 aircraft, with options to receive five more of the jets, the companies announced today. The deal is valued at up to $1.18 billion for all 15 aircraft based on list prices.

It marks Bombardier’s first CSeries order announcement at this year’s Dubai Airshow and the 10th order overall for the new 100- to 149-seat aircraft, which is expected to enter service in 2013.

Istanbul-based AtlasJet currently operates a fleet of 17 aircraft, including A319s, A321s, A330s and 757s, to over 20 destinations within Turkey, the Middle East and Europe.

“The CSeries aircraft has the range and payload capability that meet our mission requirement,” said Orhan Coskun, Chief Executive Officer, Atlasjet. “The CSeries aircraft has excellent operational flexibility and that’s what we need.”

Bombardier has now secured firm orders for 153 CS100 and CS300 aircraft and an additional 154 options. The company says the new Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1000G geared turbofan-powered jets will offer a 15% operating cost advantage and 25% fuel burn cut compared to comparably sized aircraft.
