Airbus announced at the Dubai Airshow on Monday that Kuwaiti leasing concern ALAFCO has committed to an additional 50 A320neo-family aircraft, following an order for 30 of the aircraft placed earlier this year.
The order is in addition to ALAFCO’s commitment for 30 A320neo announced at the Paris Air Show in June 2011, raising ALAFCO’s A320neo backlog to 80. Airbus said the original 30 have now been converted to firm orders.
ALAFCO’s announcement came just hours after news that the company had sold six 787 orders to Oman Air for an undisclosed amount. It is unlikely the moves are directly connected.
