North American Airlines is sponsoring its second annual blood drive with New York Hospital Queens on Friday, July 29 from 9am-3pm at their JFK Airport headquarters, where all eligible donors will receive a pair of New York Mets tickets! Blood is the fluid of life, and much of what we have come to take for granted in modern medicine would be impossible without blood donation.

Every donor will receive a pair of tickets to the Mets’ Wednesday, August 31 matchup against the Florida Marlins at Citi Field.

To donate, simply email your name to [email protected] and show up! Though walk-ins are more than welcome, knowing exactly who intends to come will help for planning purposes.

Who:
YOU! Most people who think they do not qualify actually do! Learn more here: http://nyhq.org/Donor_Eligibility

Where:
North American Airlines
JFK Building 141, Federal Circle
Jamaica, NY 11430

When:
Friday, July 29th from 9am-3pm

Directions:
CAR: Van Wyck Expressway southbound into JFK AirportĀ to “Exit C” Federal Circle. Once on the circle itself, Building 141 is the first building right after the BP gas station. Turn into the lot and enter through the front entrance. (refer to green line on map)

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Take the AirTrain from either Jamaica Station (E, J, or Z subway lines) or Howard Beach (A subway line) to Federal Circle. Walk south out of the station to Cargo Service Road, crossing the street to the opposite sidewalk before turning right. Follow sidewalk until you near Federal circle and walk under the overpass. Bldg 141 is on the opposite side (refer to purple line on map)

Follow these directions to NAA's Bldg 141 at JFK! Green is the driving route, purple is for walking/public transport. (click to enlarge)

Blood Drive Quick Facts:

  • Eat within 3 hours prior to donating blood
  • The process takes approximately 30 minutes
  • If you have Sickle Cell anemia, it is still okay to donate
  • Blood will be tested first through finger prick

If you are not able to donate on July 29, The Blood Donor Center at New York Hospital Queens (www.nyhq.org) is one of the many local sites available. The Blood Donor Center at New York Hospital Queens can take one collection and draw from it components and materials that will benefit a number of different individuals in need. The unit of whole blood that you so generously give will supply oxygen-carrying red cells to an anemic cancer patient, essential clotting factors to a hemophiliac and immunity-conferring proteins to a patient fighting severe infection.

Hope to see you there!
