A Qantas plane was forced to make an emergency landing in north Queensland, Australia on Wednesday after a fire broke out in the aircraft’s cockpit, local media reported.
Airline personnel, as well as Australia’s Transport Safety Bureau will be investigating the incident, but initial reports indicate that an electrical fault caused the fire on the Qantas’ Airbus A330-200 (VH-EBL), which had departed from Manila for Sydney.
Pilots were able to contain and extinguish the fire before safely landing in Cairns, Queensland, Australia around 50 minutes later. All 147 passengers and 11 crew members arrived safely and were transported to Sydney on other domestic flights.
