Plane Crash at Long Beach Airport Kills Five

A twin-engined private plane crashed and burst into flames while taking off from Long Beach International Airport in California Wednesday morning, killing five people, according to published reports.

The Beechcraft Super King Air 200 (N849BM), which can carry a crew of two and up to 13 passengers, was enroute to Salt Lake City. Carde Equipment Sales, a Los Angeles-based company, is listed as the plane’s owner.

The FAA said five of the six people on board were killed. There is no word on the condition of the sixth passenger.
