Sun Country to Offer Personal Entertainment Systems Aboard Longer Flights

Sun Country Airlines will offer personal entertainment devices for use by passengers on flights longer than three hours beginning this week, the company announced on Monday.

The digEcor digEplayer L7 personal media players offered by the Minneapolis-based carrier will show 10 Hollywood movies, television programming, music, music videos and games. First class passengers will get to use the touchscreen gadgets for free, while coach flyers will have to fork over $6 to rent one. Many of Sun Country’s domestic routes are shorter than three hours, but flights to the U.S. west coast, the Caribbean, Mexico and seasonal service to London-Gatwick will offer the new devices.

“The success of the Sun Country’s digEplayer program over the last eight months and the exceptional features of digEplayer L7 led to the decision to upgrade and expand the program,” said Wendy Blackshaw, Sun Country Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “For example, the touch screen technology, easy-to-use functionality and long battery life played a role in making the L7 the optimal choice for Sun Country and our passengers. This featured device enhances our world-class service which differentiates us from the competition. “

The digEplayer L7 is a natural fit for Sun Country’s ‘we’ll put a smile on your face’ attitude,” said digEcor President Brad Heckel, in a statement “Further, our multi-year agreement with Sun Country further establishes the growing relevance of handheld in-flight entertainment devices and the ability to earn ancillary revenues through initiatives such as rental programs.”
