Russia on Friday announced the arrest of a fourth individual over his suspected involvement in the terrorist bombing at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport.
According to the ITAR-TASS, the arrest was authorized on Thrusday by the Magas district court in the North Caucasian region of Ingushetia. Ther suspect was identified as Adam Ganizhev.
The detainee is a resident of the town of Ali-Yurt and was arrested by Ingushetia’s law enforcement agencies. His detention came after reports indicated his links with the suicide bomber that caused the death of 36 people.
The arrest came one day after Russian authorities confirmed the identity of the suicide bomber that caused the explosion at the Moscow airport. The terrorist was identified as Magomed Yevloyev.
After performing a DNA test on the body fragments recovered at Domodedovo airport, it was confirmed that the suicide bomber was Yevloyev, a resident of Ingushetia. Yevloyev and Ganizhev were seen together two days before the deadly blast.
In addition, security forces found that the two individuals disappeared almost simultaneously about six months ago. Yevloyev’s brother and sister knew about the terrorist’s plans, but failed to disclose them to authorities.
On Monday, Chechen Islamist rebel leader Dokka Umarov claimed responsibility for ordering a suicide bombing that killed 36 people and injured hundreds more. Umarov ordered the Moscow attack in pursuit of an independent Muslim state in Russia’s Caucasus region.
The suicide bombing at Domodedovo International Airport happened in the international arrivals hall at 4.32 p.m. local time in a general area where persons who are not passengers have free access. A total of 36 people were killed while 201 others were injured.
