The aircraft, registered 9Y-JMA, is the first 737-800 operated by Air Jamaica, which until now has maintained an all-Airbus fleet. Caribbean Airlines, on the other hand—which recently acquired Air Jamaica—operates only 737-800 jets, along with a few Dash-8 turboprops.

The plane, owned by ILFC, was formerly leased to Yemenia, where it was registered as 7O-ADL.

Trinidad and Tobago-based Caribbean will formally complete its acquisition and launch “a new Air Jamaica” at an event in Kingston tonight.
