Air Austral received its first Next Generation Boeing 737-800 on Monday, the first of two the airline ordered to replace a 737-300 and a 737-500.
Air Austral is based on Reunion Island, a French department lying east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. They made headlines in 2009 when they ordered two Airbus A380s in an all economy seating configuration, each of which will carry over 800 passengers.
