Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will start the process leading to full entry into the SkyTeam airline alliance after the signing of an official agreement next week, local media reported.

After the signing, that will take place on November 23 in Jakarta, the airline will join the alliance around early 2012.

The announcement will came just a few months after Taiwanese flag carrier China Airlines and Shanghai-based China Eastern signed an agreement to join SkyTeam, solidifying the alliance’s presence in Asia.

The president director of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar, said that after officially joining the alliance, his carrier could fly passengers “anywhere with one ticket only.”

Garuda Indonesia serves 51 destinations in 11 countries operating 85 passenger planes.
