American Airlines and British Airways Open First Jointly Operated Admirals Club in Denver

American Airlines and British Airways on Tuesday announced the opening of their new Admirals Club lounge at Denver International Airport.

Contrary to popular lore, the Admirals Club is not named after this guy.

This is the first joint lounge from both airlines since entering into a joint business agreement to share revenue, coordinate networks and schedules and cooperate commercially on routes between North America and Europe.

“The joint lounge is another way AA and BA are providing more seamless customer service as part of the airlines’ transatlantic joint business,” said Nancy Knipp, AA’s Admirals Cub President. “In addition to featuring a wide array of state-of-the-art amenities in an enhanced lounge setting, we’ve simplified the connections for travelers by relocating the lounge to Terminal A.”

Both British Airways and American Airlines operate from Terminal A at the Denver International Airport. The Admirals Club was relocated from terminal C to Terminal A to provide better connectivity for passengers.

As part of the opening celebrations, AA is offering a $75 discount on new Admirals Club memberships when purchased between this day and January 31. Individual memberships for new members range from $350 to $500 annually. One Day Passes are available at $50.

The new lounge consists in a 5,115 square foot space which incorporates rustic and organic elements that reflect the unique characteristics of Colorado. The reception area is composed of chiseled stone walls, curved glass panels and back-lit resin panels.

The facility offers seating for 124 guests and includes a cell-phone-free quiet zone with comfortable chairs with ottomans. Members can also enjoy the walk-up Cyber Café with HP TouchSmart PCs, new flat-panel TVs, a conference room and a children’s area.

The lounge is located at the north end of Terminal A which is easily accessible via the Jeppesen pedestrian bridge of the airport’s train. The Denver Admirals Club lounge is open daily from 5:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
