Boeing engineers built a giant puddle and repeatedly drove a new Boeing 747-8 Freighter through it to make sure the water wouldn’t get into anything it’s not supposed to.

    Why exactly does water ingestion into the engine matter? The engines are designed to take tons of rain per minute, I can’t see how such an insignificant amount of standing water will harm it.
